Richard Avedon's image of Lauren Hutton smoking what looks like marijuana. It could well be, but Lauren has been known to roll her own tobacco cigarettes. At the time this was taken at Great Exuma, the Bahamas in 1968, it was for his photo collections titled Acid, a field guide to altered states.
Lauren was a Playboy Bunny at the age of 20. Though she was advised to correct the gap in her front teeth, she retained this 'imperfection' and became a top fashion model, cover girl and commercial spokes person. Hutton was known as 'the fresh American face of .' In 1974 she signed a million dollar contract as the face of Revlon cosmetics.
